Fan Scarves and the Differences Between Them
Fan scarves are among the most popular accessories for every supporter. It does not matter whether it is football, hockey, or another sport. A scarf is a symbol of support, belonging to a club, group, or city, and at the same time one of the most practical products in any fanshop.
However, there are several types of scarves on the market, and they differ in production method, material, appearance, and graphic processing options. Many customers therefore naturally wonder which model is best suited for their design and why, in some cases, we recommend one type of scarf instead of another.
That is exactly why this article was created. We want to clearly and simply present the individual scarf models, their advantages, limitations, and most common uses. The goal is that even a person without technical knowledge can get a clear idea of how individual scarves are made and which type will best match their expectations.
Classic knitted scarves
Classic knitted scarves represent the traditional “old school” type of fan scarf that we have known for many years. They are made using a simpler knit from acrylic material, which is durable, pleasant to the touch, and suitable for regular wear during the season.
This type of scarf is ideal mainly for simpler motifs, large lettering, clean logos, and designs without overly fine details. With a classic knitted scarf, it is important to keep in mind that the production technology has its natural limits. The design can contain a maximum of 6 colours and the fringes can be combined from a maximum of 3 colours.
A major advantage of classic knitted scarves is their price and traditional appearance. If the customer has a simple motif and does not need very detailed processing, this is a practical and affordable choice.
The scarf is double-sided, so a different design can be prepared for each side. However, the colour limitation within the knitting technology still applies.
HD knitted scarves
HD knitted scarves are a more modern and technically refined version of classic knitted scarves. They allow for more precise display of the design, which means they handle more detailed patterns, finer graphics, or more demanding lettering better.
The result looks cleaner, sharper, and overall more professional. Thanks to the knitting method, the colours on the scarf are often beautifully rich, which is very important for club or group designs.
The basic principle remains similar to a classic knitted scarf. HD scarves are made from acrylic, the design can contain up to 6 colours, and the fringes can be combined from a maximum of 3 colours.
The scarf is double-sided, so each side can carry a different motif. Compared to classic knitting, however, the production technology is more detailed, which is slightly reflected in the price and delivery time. The differences are not dramatic, though, and it is still a very affordable product.
An HD knitted scarf is the type that every fanshop or ultras shop should have in its offer. It represents an ideal compromise between traditional appearance, detailed processing, and a reasonable price. For designs that are already too complex for a classic knit, but where the customer still wants a knitted scarf, the HD version is usually the best choice.
UltraHD knitted scarves
UltraHD knitted scarves are intended for those who need even more detailed processing than HD knitting offers. This is the most precise knitted model, capable of handling more demanding graphics, fine lines, or complicated shapes.
The colour options remain the same as with the previous models – a maximum of 6 colours in the actual design and a combination of up to 3 colours for the fringes. The key difference, however, is in the material. In addition to acrylic, an UltraHD scarf also contains approximately 5% elastane, making it more flexible and softer to the touch.
An UltraHD scarf is, of course, double-sided, so you can use a different design on each side. However, the maximum number of colours still needs to be respected.
We recommend this type especially for graphics where sharpness and clean details matter. If the customer has a more complicated motif and wants the result to look as precise as possible, an UltraHD knitted scarf is the best possible choice among knitted models.
UltraHD scarves are more sensitive when it comes to care. We do not recommend washing above 30 °C, and tumble drying is definitely unsuitable. If cleaning is needed, we recommend gentle washing or hand rinsing instead.
Woven scarves
Woven scarves are a modern alternative to knitted models. They are made from acrylic and, thanks to the weaving technology, they can display even demanding or more detailed graphics very well. They are especially suitable for designs where clean elements, precise lines, and a more elegant result are important.
However, one important feature needs to be taken into account – woven scarves are single-sided. For some, this simplicity may be an advantage, for others a disadvantage. In any case, it is a very aesthetic type of scarf with a structure that looks different from classic knitting.
Woven scarves definitely belong in the offer of a fanshop or ultras shop. They bring something different – a modern, elegant, yet still unmistakably fan-based appearance.
Production is fast, and in terms of price, woven scarves are roughly similar to HD knitted models. They are therefore an affordable and high-quality alternative for a wide range of designs.
Printed scarves
Printed scarves are another interesting and modern alternative to knitted or woven models. They are made from polyester and the design is applied using sublimation technology. This means that there are practically no colour limitations for the graphics.
It is possible to use any number of colours, photographs, shading, or very detailed motifs. Both sides of the scarf can be printed, and each side can have a completely different design. The only more significant limitation remains with the fringes, which can be combined from a maximum of 3 colours.
A printed scarf is thin, light, and very pleasant to the touch. Compared to knitted models, it feels more modern and is more practical to wear and store.
In some countries, for example in Spain, printed scarves are among the most popular types. In our region, they are gaining popularity mainly thanks to their low weight, easy storage, and great freedom in graphic design.
After the match, you can simply roll it into your jacket pocket and you do not have to worry about where to put it. At the same time, it is a very affordable model, making it an ideal choice for those looking for a good balance of price, quality, and creative possibilities.
Knitted scarves with embroidery
Knitted scarves with embroidery combine a traditional knitted scarf, most often in the HD knitted version, with classic machine embroidery. This is a more premium type of scarf that looks more elegant and luxurious than standard knitting, weaving, or printing.
Although these scarves are more expensive, in many cases embroidery is the best solution. It is especially suitable for simple and clean designs where a precisely embroidered logo can stand out.
A typical example would be striped scarves without complex graphics, where an embroidered club or group logo is placed on the ends. The result looks representative and handles long-term use very well.
Embroidery has its own specifics. It does not allow for extremely tiny details, but it creates a timeless and high-quality effect that many customers associate with premium fanshop products.
A knitted scarf with embroidery is ideal for those looking for a more elegant style, wanting to highlight a logo, or simply preferring a traditional look enhanced with quality processing.
Quick comparison of scarf types
| Scarf type | Main advantage | Limitation | Suitable for |

| UltraHD knitted | The most precise knitted result | More sensitive care | More demanding graphics and finer lines |
| Woven | Elegant and clean appearance | Single-sided design | Modern designs, precise lines, more detailed logos |
